Tyreka McFadden, a student and EACC Ambassador at East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City, was recently selected to attend the Governor’s Scholastic Honors Day at the Governor’s Mansion in Little Rock.
Student Ambassadors from each of Arkansas’ Community Colleges were invited to serve as hosts and hostesses in welcoming Valedictorians from Arkansas High Schools to the event. Attendees had the opportunity to meet Governor Mike Beebe and to take a guided tour of the mansion.
McFadden is a 2008 graduate of Forrest City High School and is a recipient of an EACC Freshman Academic Scholarship. She is a former member of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) for St. Francis County. She is planning to receive an Associate of Arts degree at EACC and will apply to UAMS after graduation. She hopes to pursue a career in respiratory therapy.
EACC Student Ambassadors are selected on the basis of leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and academic standing.
