EACC in Forrest City will be offering a unique special term class, Keyboarding and Mind Fitness, designed to teach mature adults keyboarding skills while boosting their cognition with a mind fitness program. Participants will learn computer keyboarding skills and will have the opportunity to use of ‘Cognifit Personal Coach’ a unique software program that analyzes and measures the full spectrum of your cognitive abilities.
“This class will definitely help with general keyboarding skills,” said instructor Susan Ligon. “But the most interesting part of the class is the mind-fitness component. This is a great way for adults to keep their minds active and will be tailored to areas for each individual’s needs. For example, one student may need work on eye to hand coordination, another might need help with memory. It provides a unique opportunity for a personal assessment that designs a personal brain fitness program designed only for you, to deliver precisely the training you need for the improvement you want. I think the students will find this class to be a lot of fun!”
The class is designed to allow the student learn keyboarding at their own pace through easy to follow step-by-step instructions and computer-led tutorials. Individual progress on the alpha and numeric keys is charted as they work toward improving their keyboarding or “typing” skills.
Most people realize the importance of physical fitness, but neglect to exercise their brains as much as they should. This class will introduce students to computer-based mind fitness exercises designed to improve cognitive abilities as you age. “This combination class will help you improve your typing and your brain fitness,” said Ligon. Class size is limited.
The class will meet July 6th – 10th (Monday – Friday) from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Computer Education Center at EACC. For more information call 870-633-4480 ext. 292.
