Area students in the East Arkansas Community College Senior Sage Pottery class are busy learning different pottery-building techniques. The class, taught by potter Paul Crocker, teaches students how to create works of art with clay using hand building and wheel processes. The students learn how to mix clay and prepare clay for use and throw on the potters-wheel. When the pieces are complete they will have the opportunity to hand glaze their work and ‘fire’ them in the EACC kiln.
“These students exhibit great enthusiasm and interest in one of the oldest pottery construction methods in history as they plan and construct their own personal coil pot,” said instructor, Paul Crocker.
The Senior Sage Program at EACC offers classes for active adults aged 50 and above. For more information about Senior Sage classes visit www.eacc.edu or call 870-633-4480 ext. 333.
