East Arkansas Community College in Forrest City will present A Christmas Carol at the Fine Arts Center on Saturday, December 5th at 7:30 p.m. The presentation is part of the EACC Fine Arts Center’s Spotlight Series and tickets are now on sale.
Celebrate the true spirit of Christmas with A Christmas Carol! A powerful story of redemption, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has enchanted audiences around the world with its message of selfless giving and holiday joy. Ebenezer Scrooge, a most unrepentant and miserly fellow, is made to see the light as he survives a merciless battery of revelations by the ghosts of his own Christmases: Past, Present, and Future.
Presented by Palace Professional Tours in association with the North Country Center for the Arts, the national touring production of A Christmas Carol features a new and original script adaptation, direction, and an impressive performance as ‘Scrooge’ by Director/Producer/Actor Scott Severance. Filled with heartfelt sentiment and haunting special effects, the production is delightful and entertaining, and includes beloved traditional carols of the season, superb staging, and tremendous artistry. With the music of the season woven throughout this classic tale, the adaptation of Dickens’ ever popular classic fills the stage with first class professional actors, lush costumes, stunning sets, song and dance, a heavy dose of humor, and a timeless message.
Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, published in 1843, has been retold in dozens of languages through numerous media formats including animated and live action film, opera, ballet, a Broadway musical, a chamber orchestra composition and more. The story is most often considered one of the greatest influences for the restoration of the Christmas holiday.
Director Scott Severance has over three hundred career credits as an actor, director and playwright throughout his professional career. Currently, he is the Producing Artistic Director at Jean’s Playhouse in Lincoln New Hampshire. His favorite musical roles include Harold in The Full Monty, Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th Street, and an award-winning performance as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.
Founded in 1985, the North Country Center for the Arts has been providing award-winning theater music and comedy to New Hampshire for nearly 30 years. The non-profit arts organization supports the arts in New Hampshire and features first-class mainstage and children’s theater performances.
