Emily Hirons of Wynne has been awarded the East Arkansas Community College Foundation General Education Scholarship.
The General Education Scholarship is presented annually to a full-time student in the Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degree programs who plans to transfer to a 4-year institution after graduation from EACC. The student must possess a GPA of 3.0 on all coursework (minimum of 30 college credit hours).
Hirons is currently enrolled in EACC's Associate of Science in Education-K-6 Elementary degree program and plans to continue her education at Arkansas State University or Arkansas Tech University to obtain a bachelor's degree in elementary education. After obtaining her bachelor's degree, Hirons also plans to further her education to earn a master's degree and pursue her dream of becoming a teacher. "I am so honored and thankful to have selected for this scholarship," said Hirons. "Since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of becoming a teacher, and I could not live out my dream without this scholarship," she added.
The EACC Foundation's mission is to generate support and advocacy for East Arkansas Community College in the communities it serves.
