EACC presents Summer Enrichment Camp for area children

EACC recently held its annual Summer Enrichment Camp for area students entering grades 2nd - 6th.  The theme for this year's camp was Hustle and Bustle Energy: The Science of Motion.  The camp was held Monday, July 8th - Thursday, July 11th.

The four day program was designed to provide fun and challenging enrichment for students who excel in academics.  Highly qualified teachers representing CLUE (Creative Learning in a Unique Environment) instructed the campers.

Throughout the week, over 70 campers studied force and motion while they discovered the many ways laws of physics affect reality through hands on science experiments that involved technology, engineering, art, and math.

Campers learned about force and motion through classroom activities, puzzles, games, and more.  They explored nine different forms of energy and learned about the laws of conservation of energy through various experiments.  Students made wind runners and competed in races, created their own solar ovens to bake s'mores, and produced rotor-copters to throw and study the force of wind, distance, and time in the air. The exciting camp included project-based learning, coding, and outdoor fun!

Students from Forrest City, Palestine/Wheatley, Wynne, Lee Academy, and Cross County schools attended this year's camp and received recommendations from their teachers.  The camp was under the direction of Nick Hess, EACC's Director of Community Education.
