EACC presents Arkansas Arts Council's Small Works on Paper Exhibit

The EACC Gallery presents the Arkansas Arts Council's touring exhibition, Small Works on Paper.  The exhibit will be on display from Tuesday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 30.  Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

The 2024 Small Works on Paper exhibition features 39 artists from across Arkansas.  The tour and will make stops at nine venues throughout the state in the yearlong exhibit.

Now in its 37th year, the annual Small Works on Paper exhibit showcases artwork no larger than 18 x 24 inches by Arkansas artists who are members of the Arkansas Artist Registry, an online art gallery coordinated by the Arkansas Arts Council that showcases the artwork of Arkansas artists. 

An out-of-state juror selects the work to be included in the traveling visual arts exhibition. This year's Small Works on Paper entries were juried by Laura Blereau, curator at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Blereau reviewed more than 200 entries to select the 40 pieces that are included in this year's exhibition.  She also selected works to receive purchase awards.  Purchase award winners receive the cash amount equivalent to the value of their selected works, and the purchase award pieces will become part of the exhibition's permanent collection.

Artwork by the following artists was selected for purchase awards: Ryan Howard of Little Rock; Milan Jilka of Springdale; Alexia Lams of Pine Bluff; Madeline McMahan of Paragould; Vianny Nolasco of Rogers; and Sondra Strong of Bryant.

The Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of Arkansas Heritage, advances the arts in Arkansas by providing services and supporting arts endeavors that encourage and assist literary, performing and visual artists in achieving standards of professional excellence. In addition, the Arkansas Arts Council provides technical and financial assistance to Arkansas arts organizations and other providers of cultural and educational programs. Arkansas Heritage is a division of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism.

The EACC Gallery is located in the EACC Fine Arts Center at 1700 Newcastle Road in Forrest City.  Daily hours for the Gallery are Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. or as scheduled for special tours. There is no charge for admission.  For more information, call 870-633-4480, ext. 352.
