East Arkansas Community College's Childcare Program prepares students with the skills necessary to care for children from birth to school age in under two-years. From taking care of the physical needs of young children to creating a safe, healthy, developmentally-appropriate learning environment, our program is designed to provide you with the background and practical skills to succeed in a competitive field. 

 Career Opportunities    Annual Salary

A career in child care calls for the ability to connect with different personalities as well as stick to best practices to keep kids safe and thriving. If you're interested in learning the latest in child development, health and safety, assessment strategies and more, our specially designed online child care training course could be perfect for you. Once completed, students will be able to:

  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order.
  • Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.
  • Teach basic skills, such as color, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.
  • Observe and evaluate children's performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Read books to entire classes or to small groups.
